Workshop on Academic Management System held at SKUAST-J | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 23: A workshop on Academic Management System (AMS) for important online academic activities such as registration, attendance, uploading of course content, class schedule, result, fellowship management etc. was organized at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu by Indian Agricultural Statistical Research Institute (IASRI), New Delhi for the faculty members. A team headed by Dr. R. C. Goyal , IT consultant and eminent scientist, ICAR-IASRI was expert in the workshop . Dr. R. C. Goyal elaborated that Academic Management System (AMS) has been customized by the National Agricultural Higher Education Project component-2 Project team at ICAR, IASRI, New Delhi for implementation at various Agricultural Universities. He said that AMS is a web enabled system for management of all academic activities of the university and has been designed in a modular approach with in-built workflows. He further said that AMS caters to the needs of different users viz. Dean, Registrar, Professor, Head, Guide, faculty, teachers, students, administrators and officials for performing their assigned tasks. In his address Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu said that Academic Management System platform is not only for learning and knowledge; but also for the operationalisation of the contents. It ensures efficiency, credibility and transparency of the universities. He further said that SKUAST-Jammu is pleased to implement Academic Management System in the university as it facilitates in automation of various academic processes of the university and enhances the efficiency of the overall system by saving time and efforts involved in manual processes. During the workshop, hands on training session for implementation and operationalization of Academic Management System was also organized for the faculty members of the University. All the statutory officers of the University, teaching and non-teaching staff members attended the workshop. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Bharat Bhushan.
