Government Degree College, Chenani cleans water body | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 23: Government Degree College, Chenani cleaned the water body and the premises of the old heritage Shiv Temple at Chenani town and also performed a Maha-Arti as a sacred ritual. The student volunteers also involved the local community for the religious conclave. The purpose of the program was to accelerate the efforts involved in the Swachh Bharat Mission or the Clean India Program that was launched throughout length and breadth of the country as a national movement. Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College said that since ancient times India has had an incredible sense of aesthetics and people have always been perceptive about the sense of hygiene, however, it is rather unfortunate that the abject poverty that traversed over the last century, more complicated by the population density, and coupled with today’s vehicular pollution, industrial emissions, thermal power plants, construction dust, waste burning and problem of proper waste disposal has made our surroundings extremely unhealthy & unhygienic. |
