Calls for taking dovetail advantage of Govt schemes

JAMMU, Jan 31: Principal Secretary, Animal/ Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary chaired the 33rd State Implementing Agency (SIA) meeting at his office here today. He is Chairman of the J&K State Implementing Agency.
Additional Secretary (C&DD), Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India also attended the meeting through video conference.
The Chairman sought details of livestock vaccinations done under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) and called for crosschecking and tallying with panchayat-wise figures. He directed that the benefits of the scheme be permeated up to the remotest regions of the UT and therefore vaccinations be done on priority.
With regards to the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, Phase III, the Chairman called for concerted efforts and directed that 75 percent of the targeted figures be achieved by the mid February this year.
Speaking to the Directors of Livestock Development Boards, from Jammu as well as Kashmir, the Chairman took stock of the working of liquid nitrogen plants in J&K. While seeking a detailed report of their conditions, he directed that the plants be augmented and run at their maximum capacity. He directed the respective officers for efficient expenditure of allocated budgets and payments of pending dues.
In view of surplus milk production by some district of J&K, it was decided that the department would encourage and promote large scale milk processing and value addition.
While discussing the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS) with the Directors of Animal Husbandry, the Chairman called for a thorough review of the scheme. He laid stress on promoting enterprises involved in value addition and milk processing. He suggested that the scheme also focus on modernisation of such units. The Principal Secretary also called for encouraging of vermicompost production in dairy units under the scheme.
While discussing other issues about dairy and animal husbandry sectors, the Chairman called for taking 'dovetail advantage of various schemes of the Centre Government' for widescale welfare of the masses.
Those present at the meeting included Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr Sagar D Doifode; Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir, Purnima Mittal; Director Finance, Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani; Director Planning; CEO, Livestock Development Board Jammu, Dr Matloob Tak; CEO LDB Kashmir, Dr Anil Gupta, technical officers among others. Their counterparts from Kashmir participated through virtual mode.
