WC difficult to win: Australia captain | | | agencies NEW DELHI, Feb 21: The Australian team will approach the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup with lot of confidence but skipper Meg Lanning admitted that the championship is "extremely difficult to win". Australia had cruised through to the final four in 2017 in England but their title hopes were blown away by Harmanpreet Kaur's brilliant 171 not out and an upbeat Indian team. "A lot of our players were involved in that 2017 World Cup which didn't quite end the way we would have liked. I think since then we've changed the way we approach and play our cricket and are a lot more positive and willing to take a few more risks. I think that suited our game style," Lanning said in a column for the ICC. "It is the trophy that we don't have our hands on at the moment and we're all very keen to try and change that. "Being the No.1 ranked team, we go in there with a lot of confidence, but World Cups are extremely difficult to win," she added. The showpiece event will commence on March 4 where eight teams will play each other once in the early stages and the top four move on to the semi-finals. |
