Govt must divulge details of stranded students: Rahul | | | AGENCIES NEW DELHI, Mar 2: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded the Centre to disclose the details of Indian students stranded in war-torn country of Ukraine. "To avert further tragedy, GOI (Government of India ) must share: How many students have been evacuated ? How many are still stranded in Ukraine ? Region-wise detailed evacuation plan. We owe a clear strategy and communication to the families involved," he said in a tweet. The former Congress president's statement comes a day after an Indian student was killed in shelling in Kharkiv. The Congress MP had earlier accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of not taking effective steps to bring back the students stuck in Ukraine. Earlier in the day, Congress had alleged that the government has failed to discharge its responsibility in bringing back the students and also questioned the role of the Indian Embassy in Ukraine. "The plight of our students stranded in Ukraine is unimaginable. Mr 'Prachar Mantri' you have failed our nation," the grand old party said in a tweet, in a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Indian government has brought back several students from Ukraine, after they crossed the border with neighbouring countries. |
