Vigyan Parishad conducts State Level Camp of VVM 2021-22

JAMMU, Apr 4: Vigyan Parishad (J&K), a State Chapter of Vijnana Bharati(VIBHA), conducted prize distribution ceremony of Vidhyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) State Level Science Camp 2021-22 for the students of Class VI to XI at CSIR-IIIM Jammu on 03.04.2022. Twelve top students were selected through rigorous procedure from 114 students (101 from J&K and 13 from Ladakh), who were initially shortlisted from more than 1200 registered students at the preliminary stage, for their onward participation in National Level Talent Search Camp. The programme was conducted by Vigyan Parishad J&K team comprising of Prof. Rajni Kant (President), Prof. Pawanesh Abrol (Vice President), Dr. Parveen Lehana (Vice President), Samir Vohra (Org. Secretary), Dr. Dhiraj Vyas (Secretary), Dr. Uday Pratap Singh, Social Media Incharge, Er. Deepak Byotra (Jt. Secretary), Pankaj Gupta (Treasurer), Tinny Sawhney (State VVM Coordinator), Navneet Kour and Ajay Sharma & Ankit Singh both from Central VVM Team.
Whilst welcoming the participating students for this talent search VVM Exam, the President Prof. Rajnikant apprised the audience about the National Level Competitive Examinations which are available for those students who are willing to take up science as a career. He also conveyed that the VVM examination has, in order to felicitate young budding scientists, a practice of awarding students for their first, second and third rank with a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-, Rs.3000/- and Rs.2000/- respectively, for each class, along-with mementos and certificates. An exposition of various National funding agencies was also made and the students were apprised of the opportunities these agencies offer to the young budding scientists.
Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director CSIR IIIM Jammu was the Chief Guest and Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Prant Karyavah, RSS J&K, was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Reddy gave a brief and interesting presentation to the students on his experience gained during the research and also shared his thoughts about the existing scientific temper amongst the scientists working across various disciplines of science and technology in the country. He also projected the value of Science in our lives and encouraged the students to do science for the betterment of this Nation. He also lauded the country's efforts in tackling COVID pandemic. Dr Vikrant Sharma boasted the participating students to work hard for the development of the Nation and for its self-reliance. Jyoti Sharma conducted the proceedings of the event and Samir Vohra, Organising Secretary VIBHA J&K presented the formal vote of thanks.
The function was witnessed by the participating students, their parents, teacher coordinators, along with the well learned gathering.
