PF Commissioner visits Kishanganga Power Station; interacts with employees, contractors | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 15: Rizwan-ud-din, Provident Fund Commissioner, J&K and Ladakh visited Kishanganga Power Station, NHPC Limited, Bandipora. Parag Saxena, GGM - Head of the Kishanganga Power Station welcomed him. The PF Commissioner addressed the principal employer and contractors along with representatives of contract workers on various schemes framed under EPF & M P Act, 1952. Benefits of Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) and Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) were elaborately explained. It was highlighted that after implementation of EPF and M P Act, 1952 in the UTs of J& K and Ladakh, contractual employees are entitled to insurance scheme titled Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976 to a maximum of Rs. 7 Lakhs (in the event of serving members). A minimum of Rs 2.5 Lakhs is paid to the dependent / nominee of deceased member if the employee has been a member for a continuous period of one year. Insurance benefits vary according to length of service and the balance amount in the P F account of member. The PF emphasized upon the need to maintain as much balance in P F Account as the members can, to get maximum benefit under EDLI. He also elaborated the roles & responsibilities of Principal Employers and the Contractors towards contract workers. The PF Commissioner discussed about the setting of goals. He said goals help to focus to promote the willingness to succeed. The nominee of deceased PF member Abdul Majeed Tantray who was engaged through contractor Mohammad Sultan Tantray of NHPC, Kishanganga Power Station received a benefit of Rs.4.75 Lacs under the above scheme. |
