J&K admin fails to submit 2202 UCs amounting to Rs 10,441 cr: CAG | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 15: The Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) has recommended for action against some officials of Jammu & Kashmir after the union territory administration failed to submit 2205 utilization certificates (UC) amounting to Rs. 10,441 crores for the period ending March 31, 2020. The CAG said that the non-submission of the UCs means that the authorities have not explained as to how funds were spent over the years and the same is fraught with the risk of misappropriation. The CAG’s latest report said that an amount of Rs. 10,441 crores is outstanding in Jammu & Kashmir of which Rs. 5,972 crores were outstanding form more than a year. The CAG report said that since non-submission of UCs is fraught with the risk of misappropriation it is important that the UT government monitors the aspect closely and holds the concerned persons accountable for submission of UCs in a timely manner. |
