AAP emerging as a biggest challenge in Jammu; BJP’s core group admits | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 2: Notwithstanding the brave face being present by the J&K unit of the BJP, the core group of the party admitted that Aam Adami Party (AAP) is likely to give a serious challenge to Saffron Party in the coming assembly elections. Apart from discussing the complete failure of the system in J&K, BJP’s core group discussed the emergence of AAP in the Union Territory in general and Jammu province in particular. Party leadership has realized that AAP is gradually filling the political vacuum created due to the defunct Congress in Jammu province. On the condition of anonymity, a member of the core group told The Early Times AAP is spreading its footprints in Jammu province by replacing Congress. “Earlier we were confident that party will sweep assembly elections in Jammu province due to the defunct Congress but now AAP is emerging as a formidable challenge”, he said and added that members of the core group were worried over AAP growing influence in this part of UT. As reported earlier, the J&K unit of the BJP has appealed central leadership of the party to save the Union Territory from the ‘mafia’ to face the coming assembly elections. Fear-gripped J&K BJP leaders that the failure of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to solve the basic problems of the people would sabotage the party’s plan to form its own government in Jammu and Kashmir. “Earlier due to failure of the Congress to encash peoples’ anger BJP leadership was not worried about assembly elections but now the situation has been drastically changed”, a senior BJP leader had told The Early Times. The emergence of AAP in the political scenario has added woes to the local BJP leaders.
