DC Reasi orders close monitoring of Brick Kilns

REASI, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Babila Rakwal today asked enforcement departments to closely monitor the operations of Brick Kilns in the district.
Chairing a meeting of the concerned departments, the DC asked to ensure that no brick kiln be allowed to continue operations without completing all requisite norms according to the Jammu and Kashmir Brick Kilns (Regulation) Act, 2010.
She instructed all the concerned departments, particularly Geology and Mining, Pollution control Board, Revenue and Agriculture to minutely re-verify the authentication of documents/licenses as well as the feasibility of the kilns.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Forest Officer Jyotsana; ADC Abdul Star; ACR Sanjay Badyal; LMO Pushkar Raj; Tehsildar Pouni Lekh Raj; XeN PWD Janak Raj besides other district officers.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues and the DC inquired from the district Officers about the total number of brick Kilns operating in the districts, Number of brick kiln owners who have applied for renewal of license, status of rate revisions, number of those operating with permissions, Royalty and other related issues.
Babila Rakwal instructed the district officers to ensure that all the brick kilns are renewed as per the mandate of Jammu and Kashmir Brick Kilns (Regulation) Act, 2010.
She also urged the members of Brick Kiln Association to apply for the renewal of documents to run their Brick Kilns as per the prescribed norms.
