29-year-old farmer becomes 'Crorepati' overnight by winning Dream 11 Cricket Game

SRINAGAR, May 22: A 29-year-old farmer from Shallagam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district became overnight millionaire by winning Rs two Crore in the online Indian Premier League (IPL) fantasy cricket platform Dream 11 on Sunday. "Yes it is true…I have won Rs two Crores in online Dream Eleven Cricket game", Waseem Raja said. Waseem Raja of village Shalgam said that he was informed by his friend on phone that he was on the number one slot at Dream 11 on Saturday. "I was surprised to learn that and when I put on my mobile phone seeing my name on the top and earned Rs 2 crore…my joy was the sky limit", Raja said. As soon as the news broke out, people and his native villagers started congratulating him and his family. " I have been trying my luck since the last two years by creating fantasy teams in the IPL," he said. Raja who has studied till 10th class and could not continue his studies due to some reasons is doing a farming job in his fields. He said the whole village was in jubilations after learning that he has won the Dream 11 IPL fantasy online cricket game. He said , "I had selected my team "Dream Eleven" but could not follow seriously and was busy with my daily course until my friends called me and informed me that I had won the game". Raja said that he has been playing IPL Dream Eleven games for the past two years, but not very seriously. Raja said "I am a diehard fan of cricket and watch all games being played by the Indian and international players with full taste". Raja belongs to a middle class farmers family and his father is working in Forest department as forest protection officer. "Becoming a millionaire overnight is like a dream. This will help us to overcome poverty as we belong to the financially weak section," he said and added "Now I will be able to treat my ailing mother." Large number of people throng to the house of Raja to congratulate him today. "I made the name of my village bright", he said. When asked how he is feeling after winning the game, Raja said "I am feeling very happy not only me but the whole of my village Shallagam -Sheetipora are jubilant". Raja said that he will try to spend the amount on good deeds. Dream11 is an Indian fantasy sports platform that allows users to play fantasy cricket, hockey, football, kabaddi, and basketball.
