Police busts inter-State drug racket, recovers 1540 banned capsules

KISHTWAR, May 23: Continuing war against drug menace, Police in another act of alertness and prompt action recovered 1540 banned capsules. Police party of PS Kishtwar led by Inspector Abid Bukhari under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Ashish Gupta-JKPS laid a Naka at Malipath during nakka checking of vehicles and pedestrian police party noticed a suspicious moment of a suspect person who tried to flee after seeing police team, but alert cops of Police Party chased and overpowered him tactfully. During his personal search police party recovered 40 psychotropic capsules from his possession arrest was made on spot.
The accused disclosed his identity as Mohd Anzar Beig S/o Ghulam Qadir Beig R/o Cherhar Kishtwar. During the interrogation of accused confessed that there is a big consignment of drug which he has kept at his home. Accordingly a team was deputed alongwith Tehsildar 1st Class Magistrate to his residence and a search was conducted, another consignment of 1500 banned capsules were recovered which were sealed on the spot.
On this, a case FIR No. 115/2022 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act got registered at PS Kishtwar and investigation started. While further questioning of the accused disclosed the backward linkage where from he managed the seized psychotropic drugs and accordingly by acting swiftly one more suspect was picked up
Moreover, in order to ascertain the forward linkage investigation is being carried out, so that all the accused involved in such illegal trade be identified and put behind the bars.
Additional SP Kishtwar Rajinder Singh said that Kishtwar Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace from the society. We request people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on 9906154100 or 112 with Police for the cause. Your identity will be kept confidential.
Singh said that the few more drug paddler involved in this case has also been identified added that police teams will be deputed for their arrest. He said 31 FIRs has been registered in Kishtwar District in last one year in which 39 persons had been arrested while one accused person has been booked under PSA. He said that arrested Paddler was involved in several cases and is presently on bail from court.
