Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Monday morning termed the arrest and recovery of arms and ammunition as a “major success” for the police.
Police said the seized small weapons were sent by Pakistan based handlers and were to be used for targeted killings of civilians and security personnel in Srinagar city.
Giving details about the operation, police said two “hybrid” militants of LeT/TRF were arrested during a cordon and a search operation (CASO) at Chanapora in Srinagar.
The two have been identified by police as Aamir Mushtaq Ganai alias Mussa, a resident of Khan Colony Chanpora and Ajlan Altaf Bhat of Butpora Chanpora.

A case has been registered in Chanpora Police station under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Arms Act and Indian Penal Code(IPC).
Police said initial investigations reveal that these weapons were sent by Pakistan based handlers of LeT/TRF.
