SRINAGAR, May 27: Militants managed to escape after a brief gunfight in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Friday. They said militants and security forces exchanged fire during a cordon and a search operation at Gundpora in Rampora area of Bandipora. "The CASO turned into an encounter and after initial firing, terrorists managed to escape from the spot. However, our teams (are) chasing them," a police spokesman said. This was the third gunfight in the last 24 hours. Four Lashkar-e-Taiba militants have been killed in two other encounters. |
