ED summons Farooq Abdullah | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 27: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned National Conference President and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah in connection with a money laundering case involving the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, officials said on Friday. Abdullah, a MP, has been asked to appear on May 31. The ED is investigating money-laundering allegations in the cricket body. Dr Abdullah has been questioned by ED in the past two regarding the case. The National Conference hit out at the Modi government. “The latest ED summon to Dr Farooq Abdullah is common for all opposition parties in India. Every time elections are expected to be announced in any state, the investigative agencies move in first to clear a path for the BJP. This appears to be the case this time as well and this is the price opposition parties pay for opposing this government,” NC spokesman Imran Nabi Dar said. He said Dr Abdullah has continued to maintain his innocence in the matter and has cooperated with the investigative agencies and will do so in this case as well. “It’s also not a coincidence that the only leaders targeted in J&K belong to the PAGD alliance parties,” he added. |
