DC Kathua presides over Block Diwas proceedings

KATHUA, June 2: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Pandey presided over Block Diwas proceedings to listen to public grievances here at the conference hall of DC Office complex the other day.
BDC Chairperson Nagri, BDC Chairperson Barnoti, DDC Member Nagri, Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people attended the outreach programme.
Scores of individuals and deputations, including PRI members projected demands and apprised the DC Kathua about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.
The people submitted a memorandum of demands seeking better road connectivity, adequate drinking water supply and release of the pending 2nd installment of PMAY / AWAAS Plus scheme and liabilities under B2V etc.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the demands of the people and passed on the spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.
The DC said that Block Diwas initiative was aimed at reaching out to the people and listening to their grievances and redressing them in an efficient and coordinated manner. He stressed upon the officers to prioritise the grievances and redress them in a time bound manner.
The DC also stressed upon the PRI representatives and Officers of concerned departments to work in tandem to achieve desired development targets in a set timelines.
The DC also enjoined upon the officers of works department to take action against contractors who defaulted the terms and conditions of the contract and called for fixing responsibilities.
Terming Block Diwas as an important weekly event to interact with the people and to listen to their problems, the DC called upon officers to track record of all highlighted issues of the people and work for their redressal on priority basis. Similarly Block Diwas proceedings were also held at Billawar and Basohli under ADCs of respective sub divisions.
