| NCC unit of GDC Khour organised cleanliness drive | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 4: Today on 04 June 2022 NCC Unit of GDC Khour carried out a Cleanliness Drive in Khour market and of the canal in the market. The aim of the programme was to spread awareness regarding the ill effect of single use plastic bags on environment as it takes many years to decompose and it release toxic substances into the soil when perish under sunlight , if plastic bags are burned they release a toxic substance into the air causing air pollution. The programme was the part of NCC's 'PUNEET SAGAR ABHIYAAN 'under which Swachhta Abhiyan is being conducted Pan India by NCC cadets.
Under this programme the NCC cadets of GDC Khour collected single use waste plastic bags from the market and from the canal in the market. The waste collected is submitted to the Municipal Cooperation Khour. Also the cadets and staff of the Municipal cooperation khour distributed the jute bags to the public and advised them to avoid plastic bags and use jute bags .
The entire program was organized by Professor Arun Sharma (NCC Officer of the College) under the able guidance of Dr T K Sharma, Principal GDC Khour.
