Self Defense and Yoga Sessions conducted at GGM Science College | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 4: NSS Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College organized self defense and yoga sessions in the college campus under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan as a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav on the 9th day of the summer camp. In 2015, the Indian government introduced the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme to address concerns of gender discrimination and women empowerment in the country. The primary importance of self-defence is for women to be able to protect themselves against anything that's unacceptable in terms of social conduct. There is nothing more empowering than having the confidence to analyse a dangerous situation and take actions to overcome them effectively. Self-defence training is a life skill that helps girls to be more aware of their surroundings and be prepared for the unexpected at any time. About 30 girl students and NSS male volunteers participated in this self defence session. The session was conducted by Black belt NSS volunteers Divyansh. The yoga session was conducted by NSS volunteer Sanchit Sharma as a part of Yoga Mahotsav. NSS volunteers performed various yoga asanas. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. |
