Central Sanskrit University celebrates Subrahmanya Bharati centenary celebrations | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 9: A programme under the joint aegis of Central Sanskrit University, Sri Ranvir Campus, Jammu and Cultural Development Yuva Sanstha, Chennai under the centenary year celebrations of the famous Tamil poet Subrahmanya Bharathi in online/offline mode at Jammu and held simultaneously in Chennai. The purpose of this programme is to spread the message of Mahakavi Subrahmanya Bharati to different regions of India as well as to the world and bring unity amongst them by merging their splendour with different cultural traditions, specialties of India. The programme showed uniformity of Tamil, Sanskrit and Dogri languages. The chief guest of the online programme from Chennai, Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University Vice Chancellor Dr. N. Panchanatham said that Mahakavi Subrahmanya Bharathi was a supremely patriotic and reformist poet. Special guest, Swami Dharmistananda Ji Maharaj, Manager, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, said that Subrahmanya Bharati was a contemporary of Swami Vivekananda and, like him was saddened by the then plight of India. He also called upon the youth of India that they should be ready to defend the country. Major General G D Bakshi, in his inspirational speech, underlined the pride of India by highlighting the history of India and said that North India had to face the invasion of foreigners, due to which the original Aryan culture was shattered, but South India not only to protect that culture but also it was also transported to the countries across the East and West Sea and flourished there. In offline mode, the programme was conducted at Vani Vilas Auditorium, Shree Ranveer Campus Jammu. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp. The invocation was done by the students of Veda department in the presence of Dr. Deepak Kumar Sharma. On this occasion, the campus director and the guest of honor of the program, Prof. Madan Mohan Jha welcomed and honored the guests. Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, as the chief guest, said on the occasion that it was a unique function in itself. He called upon the students to understand and work on other principles of unity in diversity and social harmony of Mahakavi Subrahmanya Bharati. Guest of honour, Sham Lal Sharma, Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir BJP and former Minister said that we all should preserve and promote our own language. He said that just as the organizations of Tamil Nadu have jointly taken the initiative to spread the message of the great Tamil poet of the country throughout India, similarly efforts have been made to spread information about the languages and literature of the state in India. He said that the partisan historians not only created a rift between North-South India but also made no effort to highlight the achievements of the Dogra kings of Jammu. He said that the other princely states of India continued to fight among themselves, while the Dogra kings, especially Maharaja Gulab Singh and his famous general Zorawar Singh, extended the borders of the state and India to the inaccessible Nepal, Tibet and Afghanistan in the west. |
