Jammu, June 30: Summer Camp for Children organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded here today at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium with scintillating performances by children (Dance, Short Play and Art Exhibition) which they had prepared during the camp. Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest at the occasion, appreciated the endeavours of the Dean Students Welfare and his team to come up with such a wonderful programme. Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu and Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Special Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor were also present at the occasion along with faculty members, officers, officials of the university and members of the Campus Cultural Committee. Prof. Umesh Rai expressed his gladness on watching soulful performances by the children. He stated that such programmes are very beneficial in the holistic development of the children, who are the future of the Nation. He suggested to continuously organize such programmes which yield multifaceted benefits. He appreciated the participants for their imaginative fine-art work under the mentorship of Dr. Milan Sharma, Semi-Classical Dance choreographed by Ankita Yadav and Skit ‘Safai Main Bhalai’ written and directed by Sumeet Sharma which conveyed a significant message of getting aware of the importance of cleanliness. He also felicitated the participants on the occasion. Children were given training in Theatre, Fine Arts and Dance by the experts in this camp. Dr. Milan Sharma (HoD Painting Department IMFA), Mr. Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor SW), Ms. Ankita Yadav (Dance Faculty-IMFA) were the resource persons of the camp who inculcated creative skills among the participants. Earlier, in his address, Prof. Prakash Antahal shared that other than organizing several programmes of cultural and literary importance for the students and scholars of the university, the Department of Students Welfare regularly organizes the Summer Camp for the wards of university employees which provides an opportunity to them to sharpen their skills. Moreover, it is during such camps, children get an atmosphere where in addition to learning, they get a chance to interact with each other and share ideas. They also develop a sense of pride and belonging towards the institution which is a great milestone to achieve. The Department of Students Welfare initiated this activity in the year 2015, and since then best efforts are being put in to make this event a unique fun and learning experience for the children. The event was vibrantly conducted by Prof. Vishav Raksha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee who also presented the vote of thanks. It is pertinent to mention here that, in connection with India @ 100-Amrit Kaal, the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu has prepared a vibrant calendar of events of cultural and literary importance for various stakeholders of the university under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai. by the team consisting of Prof. Prakash Antahal, Prof. Vishav Raksha, Prof. Sanjana Kaul (Co-Chairperson, CCC), Dr. Anil Gupta (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Garima Gupta and Dr. Pritam Singh (Assistant Deans, SW), Dr. A.R. Manhas & Dr, Shallu Sharma (Deputy Proctors), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Ms Mansi Mantoo and Sumeet Sharma. Children who participated in the summer camp included Manvi Bhushan, Shiva Gupta, Prajval Antahal, Jigisha Thusoo, Harshan Tikoo, Adhyan Langer, Aakriti Jasrotia, Khushi, Sutejas Gupta, Aradhya Charak, Navya Raina, Nitya, Devin Dev, Priyanshi Sharma, Priyanjali Sharma, Iknoor Kaur, Madhav Thakur, Shambhavi Sharma, Yakshita Singh, Ishanvi Salaria, Jyanvi Salaria, Kashvi Mahajan, Aaryaveer Varinder, Bhavya Majotra, Keshav Veer Sharma, kavya Jandial, Urvashi Mahajan, Nandani, Manyata, Pragati and Vikas Sharma. The sound system was looked after by Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul. |
