| J&K Police book drug peddler under NDPC Act | | |

SRINAGAR, July 1: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have booked a drug peddler under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPC) Act following 30 kg contraband substance being recovered from him in Budgam.
Police said during a Naka checking at Utligam Beerwah crossing, police intercepted one motorcyclist who was coming from S K Malpora towards Utligam with two bags and roaming in suspicious circumstances. He tried to flee from the spot but the Police party overpowered him and was tactfully caught.
During the search 30 KGs of semi grinded Poppy Straw like powder was recovered from him.
The drug peddler identified as Gulzar Ahmad Dar, a resident of Ranipora Malpora Beerwah was arrested on spot and his MotorCycle was also seized.
A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation set into motion. |
