LIC employees observe foundation day of All India Insurance Employees Association | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 1: The employees of LIC in Jammu and Kashmir observed Foundation Day of their association- All India Insurance Employees' Association. The programme was observed outside LIC office at D.O.Cell Jammu. Flag of AIIEA was hoisted BY Comrade Dinesh Sharma - Vice President of Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association Srinagar Division. Speaking on the occasion, Comrade Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division said that AIIEA was formed on 1ST July 1951 and its first main demand was to nationalise of life insurance business in India to end the loot by more than 200 private companies working in this sector. With the efforts of AIIEA continuously for five years, ultimately the government of India took positive initiative in this direction and LIC of India came into existence on 1st September 1956 with 5 crore of capital. With this 5 crore capital , we started, worked hard and honestly, gave best services to policyholders and so LIC today has grown into a big giant with 38 lakh crore of Assets, 34 lakh crore of investment in Indian economy, 40 crore of customer base, 12 lakh of agents and more than 99% of claim settlement ration. AIIEA has given a big contribution in growth of this industry. Com. Pawan Gupta strongly resented the policy of the NDA government to destroy the public sector, sell it into private hands. Selling the national wealth is a big cause of concern and we strongly oppose this policy of the government. He said that LIC is an industry which is fulfilling its objective of people money for people welfare. The policy monies are being consolidated into capital for investment in social sector of the country thus playing a big role in development of the nation. He appealed to the members to fight for the protection of our industry. "On one hand, we will fight on the streets to oppose such policies of the government which are leading to destruction of the public sector especially LIC, and on the other hand, we will work hard on our office seats and give best ever services to all our customers whether internal or external customers", said Com.
