NYKS to celebrate 121st Birth Anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 5: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Dept. Of Youth Affairs and Sports is all set to observe the 121st Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee; the great visionary and patriot of modern India. The aim is to make people in general and youth in particular aware about the life, great works and contributions by this great son of India.An ardent nationalist and patriot, his academic brilliance brought laurels and several firsts in his name including becoming youngest Vice Chancellor of the then Calcutta University at the age of 33 years and first Industry Minister of independent India. Dr.Shyama Prasad Mukherjee played vital role during the 1943 Bengal Famine by organizing a large scale relief drives for the famine stricken people. He invited leading politicians, businessmen and philanthropists to devise ways and means to provide relief to the needy and distressed. In a life spanning about 52 Years, he worked as a statesman, educationalist and political revolutionary. In memory of the great contributions made by Dr. Mukherjee, NYKS is conducting a nation-wide blood donation drive through its 623 field offices and 29 State/UT offices by organizing various programs/activities including lectures/seminars on the life, works and message of Dr. Mukherjee, Garlanding and floral tribute, and blood donation programs in every district and state headquarters. In addition to these programs organized by NYKS State and District Offices, NYKS youth Clubs are set to organize Village programs at the grassroot-level voluntarily as part of 121st Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. In Jammu, Nehru Yuva Kendra in the collaboration of Govt College for Women, Parade ground, Jammu are organising a blood donation camp with the help of District Red Cross society, Jammu. NYK Jammu will also organise a seminar/symposium on the life and message of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by eminent personalities who will be present there. The camps are also being organised at village and block levels of Jammu and Kashmir. Across events at village, district and state level, NYKS expects to cover a total of 2.5 lakh youth in the celebrations, along with voluntary blood donation of about 30,000 units of blood. |
