Hunt for new JK Advisors picks up in New Delhi! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 17: With the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha having being hurriedly called to New Delhi on the weekend, the hunt for new Advisors for Jammu and Kashmir has gained pace in the national capital with at least four faces from J&K among the probable ones. Sources said the government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi government will take the final call on the appointment of the Advisors after proper consultations with the concerned adding that the Union Home Ministry and the Defence ministry has been taken into confidence. The Modi government wants the Advisors to work for the deliverance of good governance in accordance with the vision of Naya Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said in the last three odd days since Sinha rushed to Delhi on July 15 evening, at least three meetings were held to decide the probable faces for the Advisors for J&K. While the first meeting was held before Sinha was called in, two more meetings have been held where the LG was also present. The sources said New Delhi looks ahead to appoint atleast two new Advisors as the chairs had fallen vacant after two of those who were holding it were “shown the door in the last few months.” Sources said as of now at least three police officers from Jammu and Kashmir and a journalist are among the contenders for the chair. Sources said New Delhi wants the Advisors to be well-versed with the situation in Kashmir and also about the deliverance of good-governance. It was reliably learnt that the security establishment at the center is of the opinion that one of the Advisors should be well versed with the maintenance of law and order in terror infested Kashmir in particular. “A good know how of how the terror network works needs to be an added advantage because the J&K is an unusual place,” said a source privy to the developments. It’s pertinent to mention that at the moment the Raj Bhawan has only two Advisors as the Baseer Khan was removed from the chair and Farooq Khan had resigned under mysterious circumstances. |
