Police arrest 2 accused in death case | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two people in connection with a death case in Central Kashmir's Srinagar district. Police have arrested two people in connection with the Shameem Ali Nath a resident of Weir area Chhatabal who was missing since July 5 and his body was recovered from Sangam area on July 19. Police said during inquest it came to fore that the deceased was being mentally and physically harassed by two individuals identified as Ashiq Wani of Chattabal Srinagar and Fayaz Ahmad Mewaforash from Sarnal, Anantnag on account of some financial dealings between the deceased and the two. Pertinently both the accused had illegally locked the residential house of the deceased situated at weir area Chattabal on account of some debt that he owed them, on July 5, 2022, when the deceased went missing. However the house was unlocked as soon as information was received by the safakadal Police station. On the basis of available oral and technical evidence, the inquest proceedings were converted into a formal case under FIR NO. 137/2022 under sections 306,452,427 and 506 of IPC police station Safakadal, he said. Both the accused have been arrested and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed for further investigation in this case, they said. The Post mortem report, some FSL reports are awaited and other sections like murder, destruction of evidence and other relevant sections will be added to the case based on the findings of the Post mortem report, they added. Srinagar Police assures the citizens that no crime shall go undetected and all modern means of investigation will be utilised to unearth such crimes, reads the statement. |
