KVK organizes awareness-cum-training programme | | | Early Times Report REASI, July 27: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized "Awareness-cum-training programme on different agricultural schemes and programmes" here today at tribal village Judd of Pouni block in Reasi district of J&K which was enthuastically attended by a number of farmers of the village. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Director Extension (DE) of SKUAST-J, Prof.SK Gupta.Sr. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal started the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He explained different agricultural schemes and programmes undergoing in the district and urged farmers to avail the benefits of these schemes and programmes to enhance their farm production, farm income and employment. He said that there is need to transform farming as a remunerative economic activity through promoting agripreneurship and various agricultural schemes/programmes can play a significant role for this purpose. He elaborated the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN), Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Pardhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (PMKSY), Soil Health Card Scheme, Pramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme, e-National Agricultural Market (e-NAM), Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture (ARYA), National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NAMSA), Integrated Dairy Development Scheme(IDDS), Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs), Self Help Groups(SHGs), etc. and educated farmers about the benefits and procedure to use these schemes/programmes. He emphasised on soil testing and urged farmers to utilize the balance doses of nutrients in their crops for maximum production. He also emphasized on the use of micro-irrigation practices in the agriculture especially in the rainfed areas. He highlighted the Pramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana and guided farmers on eco-friendly farming.He advised farmers to adopt the natural farming practices so as to reduce the cost of cultivation and produce the safe and healthy food. He also discussed on marketing management practices in the agricultural sector. An interactive session was also conducted for the participants during which participants asked various quarries on different aspects of agricultural schemes which were answered by the KVK officials in a satisfactorily way. Farmers thanked KVK,Reasi for organising such a useful programme. Sh.Manohar Lal of KVK,Reasi helped in arranging logistics and mobilising farmers for the training programme.
