Soldier wounded in Kulgam, militants flee | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 27: An army soldier was wounded during a pre-dawn gun battle in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said. The militants managed to give slip to the security forces. A senior security official said a cordon and a search operation was launched by a joint team of forces following an input about the presence of two militants in a house at Brayihard Kathpora village in Yaripora. "As the joint forces were laying a cordon around the houses, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately and lobbed grenades leaving one soldier wounded,? an official said. ?There was a brief exchange of fire. The terrorists took advantage of the darkness and managed to flee.? The injured soldier was evacuated to a medical facility. This was the second operation in Kulgam in the last few days where militants managed to break the cordon. On Sunday, two militants escaped after a brief gunfight at Rampora area. In July, three militants and security men each were killed in different incidents across Kashmir |
