Organizes Webnair on senior citizens Day

Jammu, Aug 21: A Webinar on Sr.citizens day was Organized by Jammu and Kashmir Excise State Taxes Employees welfare society Members today the 21st day of World's Sr.citizens Day.
Addrssing on this occasion President of society Vijay Sharma informed the August participants that the issues of Sr. Citizens were tinkering in the mind of the former American President Ronald Reagan to such an extent that on 19th August 1988 he signed the proclamation 5847 to observe 21st August as a Sr. Citizens Day.
Since then 21st August is observed around the globe as a Sr.citizens day, This day provides an opportunity to remind the Government of their promises made to senior citizens and measures which should be taken.
Er.RK.Mattoo while speaking on the occasion said it is the duty of every government to ensure that senior citizens are able to avail all the state benefits without any hassle. Dewakar Ex. ETO and Treasurer said the day also underscores the importance that senior citizens donot face any kind of difficulty Number of schemes launched by Government of India said ML. Sharma Sr.V. Pres.
The schemes are: Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Scheme, Rashtriya Vayaoshri Yojna, National Programme for Health care of Elder (NPHCE) etc., MAWPAS implemented in J& K Erstwhile state now bifurcated into two Union Territory in the year 2015.
Under this Act Dignity centres for the welfare of senior citizens can be created at district level, centre for the welfare of Sr. Citizens can be created.
One such centre was established at Srinagar with the initiative of the then Chief Justice Gita Mittal, with the support of Judiciary, health and social welfare departments Divisional Commissioner has taken the responsibility for providing infrastructure disclosed Rajinder Khajuria Secretary who concluded the Webinar by extending vote of Thanks to all for making it possible to hold Webinar successfully.
