Rightwing Shiv Sena attends Farooq's All-Party Meeting | Peoples’ Conference, Apni Party stay away | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 22: The decision of the right-wing Shiv Sena to attend the all-party meeting convened by Dr. Farooq Abdullah raised many eyebrows because the Maharashtra-based is a staunch supporter of the abrogation of Article 370. Not only leaders of the National Conference, PDP, and CPI (M) face questions from the media persons about the presence of a right-wing party, but leaders of Shiv Sena also faced a similar situation. First time in the political history of J&K, Shiv Sena-a right-wing party, joined a meeting with National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Dr. Farooq Abdullah has extended an invitation to the Shiv Sena to join the all-party meeting and the same was accepted by the right-wing party. President of the J&K wing of Shiv Sena Manish Sawhney said that they have joined the all-party meeting to protect the rights of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. He extended all support to the NC, PDP, Congress, and other parties on this issue. Two prominent region parties of J&K, the Peoples’ Conference, and the Apni Party stayed away from the all-party meeting convened by Dr. Farooq Abdullah. “It is a futile exercise. Why should we attend the meeting? Our party is satisfied with the clarification issued by the government,” a news agency, quoting a leader of the party, reported. Addressing a press conference at his Srinagar residence, Peoples’ Conference chairman Sajad Lone said that he will not attend the all-party meeting called by Farooq Abdullah to discuss the issue of inclusion of non-locals into electoral rolls of J&K, saying they will support if anything concrete comes out of it. |
