Jammu, Aug 27: The Indian Air Force (IAF) assisted by the army and administration on Saturday rescued an Hungarian trekker in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, five days after he got lost while climbing a mountain. Defence sources said Rashtriya Rifles deployed in Dool and IAF carried out a 30-hour search and rescue operation in snow-bound and upper ranges of Machhail. The team rescued Akos Vermes, 38, from Budapest, from the treacherous heights of Umasila in Sumcham Valley. “He was examined medically... He had lost his way while on a mountaineering expedition and was left exposed to inclement weather for five days,” he said. |
