NCDC, Cooperative Department organizes FFPO training programme

JAMMU, Aug 30: National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India has organized a training cum awareness programme on Fish Farmer Producer Organizations (FFPOs) promoted by Department of Fisheries, Government of India under the central sector scheme Pradhanmantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in association with Cooperative Department and Fisheries Department of UT J&K. Around 100 Fish Farmers/Fishers were participated in this programme. The Programme was organized in Hotel Ishant, district Samba. Lt Col Ashish Mohan Agarwal, Regional Director, NCDC welcomed all the participants and guests in this occasion and outlined the various schemes of NCDC. The Chief Guest of the programme Secretary Cooperative Department Yasha Mudgal in her key address wished that FFPOs formed in this scheme will set a milestone and will uplift the social and economic status of the fishers in UT. Shafqat Iqbal, Registrar Cooperative Societies has outlined that FFPO cooperatives will set an example for fisheries development among fishers community and will be a source of sustainable income for them. Vivek Tripathi, Deputy Director, NCDC briefed about the FFPO scheme and highlighted the features, objectives and benefits of this scheme. Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Samba Shruti Sharma described the online registration process of the cooperatives. Bharat Bhushan, Assistant Director, Fisheries has described the Fisheries structure in Jammu division. KVK Samba Head Dr. Sanjay Khajuria and Nidhi Pathaniya have presented the business plans for FFPO Cooperatives. On this occassion, Vikrant Dogra, Chairman, J&K dairy producers Processors and marketing coop union limited (JKDCUL) and officers from NCDC, Cooperative and Fisheries Department of UT J&K were also present. Certificates to newly online registered Cooperatives of Samba district were also distributed in this programme.
