Azad on ‘strategic’ JK Yatra! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 4: Even as former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad got a rousing welcome here Sunday after quitting the Congress, the veteran leader is on extensive tour of Jammu and Kashmir before he launches the party. The sources close to the senior politician said Azad will spend around a fortnight in the Union Territory moving from one region to another “in a phased manner for political rallying and new tie ups.” The sources said after camping in the winter capital for around two days, Azad will first move to his native Doda region where he is likely to spend around four days to be followed by a trip to the Rajauri-Poonch and Banihal areas, after which he will travel to Kashmir after around a week. The sources said Azad will be travelling across the J&K by road in bid to be more and more in touch with the people. “His visit to Jammu and Kashmir is a strategic one and thus he will spend most of the time among the people. However, he may need to visit Delhi in between,” said a source privy to Azad. It was reliably that some of the senior politicians from various other parties have also been seeking appointment with the former Congress leader for some “ democratic consultations”. The sources said Azad would launch the party only after around ten days as some of the names have been doing the rounds among his close circles but that he looks ahead to finalize the name in consultation with the new leadership both in Jammu and Kashmir regions of the Union Territory. Sources said Azad had already started finalizing the formalities for the registration of the party before the Election Commission of India in consultation with some of his close aides in the political circles in the national capital. Its pertinent to mention that Azad quit Congress a few days ago after his allegedly strained relations with Rahul Gandhi as could be inferred from his resignation where he targeted the Nehru-Gandhi family scion more than once in the five page letter. |
