DB issues directives to DC Reasi for establishing dumping site in village | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 7: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by one Sarpanch Jugal Kishore Sharma on account of absence of any established dumping site in the village, the public as well as the Municipal Committee are dumping waste material near Tan Talab which is the cause of great public nuisance and a hazard to the health of the inhabitants. Therefore, the petitioner wants a suitable direction be issued to the official respondents to stop the dumping of the waste material at the aforesaid place and to establish proper garbage dumping site so as to avoid pollution, nuisance and unhygienic conditions to the inhabitants. A Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal after hearing petitioner in person, disposed of the PIL with the direction that with liberty to the petitioner to submit a comprehensive representation highlighting the above grievance before the Deputy Commissioner Reasi within a period of three weeks from today and, in case, any such representation is filed, the Deputy Commissioner would consider it, after getting the necessary inputs, and pass a speaking order and take appropriate steps for the establishment of proper waste dumping ground in the village. DB further expected that the Deputy Commissioner would take action in this regard within a period of six weeks from the date representation is submitted before him. —JNF |
