BIS organizes exposure visit | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: Bureau of Indian Standards, Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) organized an Exposure visit of students of Govt. P.G. College for Women Gandhinagar, Jammu to its branch office on 09 September 2022. With the objective to give students practical experience of Quality Ecosystem in Product Manufacturing through ISI Mark Certification to make them quality conscious. Satyadeo Lal, Senior Director and Head JKBO welcomed students mentor Malti Rajput, Mentor and students. He outlined the program objective and gave an overview of working of BIS activities. He talked about the role of BIS in protecting the rights of consumers through standards and Conformity Assessment. BIS Conformity Assessment Schemes provide third-party guarantee of product quality, safety and reliability to the consumers. He requested the students to best utilize this opportunity through active participation. He also briefed about the objectives of the standards club and various competitions on Quality and Standards to be conducted in each standard club. Nisha Bura, Joint Director, JKBO gave detailed presentation on Standards Formulation, Product certification, Hallmarking and System Certification, Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme, Compulsory Registration Scheme, Testing & Calibration Services and International Activities. She also demonstrated e-BIS portal, Know Your Standards webpage through which Indian Standards can be downloaded FREE OF COST. She informed about Mandatory ISI mark certification of 381 products done by Government through QCOs to build the Quality Ecosystem in the country. The list includes cement, household electrical goods, LPG cylinders, domestic LPG gas stoves, air-conditioner, structural steel, helmets for 2-wheelers, toys, footwearss, compounded cattle feed etc. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, JKBO demonstrated BIS Care App through which information on Indian Standards, authenticity of ISI marked of products and Hallmarked jewellery can be easily assessed and complaints can also be registered. After the interactive session, students visited BIS Referral Assaying Laboratory. They were informed about gold jewellery testing process and were demonstrated XRF testing of gold jewellery. |
