| GGHSS Kathua organizes Orientation programme | | |

Jammu, Sept 21: Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua organized orientation programme cum Standards Writing Competition for Students of Standards Club on 21 September 2022 in collaboration with BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office. The programme started with presentation by Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director JKBO detailed presentation on Standards Formulation, Product certification and Hallmarking. He also demonstrated BIS Care App through which information on Indian Standards, authenticity of ISI marked on products and Hallmarked jewellery can be easily accessed and complaints can also be registered. He briefed about the objectives of the standards club and various competitions on Quality and Standards to be conducted in each standard club. He informed the students about different types of standards published by BIS such as products, methods of tests, Code of practices, Service Standards etc. She guided the students on structure of an Indian Standard covering classes such as Foreword, Scope, References, Raw Materials requirements, finished product requirements, methods of sampling and testing, packaging & marking requirements etc.
Later the students were given the subject of ‘Ball point Pen’ for Standard Writing. The results will be announced later by School Authority on evaluation of standards written by students. This activity helped students in understanding and appreciating the role standards play in building a Quality Eco-system in the country. The Competition was coordinated by Sh. Shashi Pal Sharma, Mentor of Standards Club from Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua. |
