SI paper leak scam: Court extends police remand of 6 accused

Jammu, Sept 29: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Amarjeet Singh today granted 7-day police remand to three accused in the Sub Inspector paper leakage scam and sent two other accused on 3-day remand.
The CJM granted a 7-day police remand of Rakesh Kumar S/O Sham Lal R/O Mawa Brahmana Pail Tehsil Akhnoor Distt. Jammu, Kewal Krishan @ Vicky S/O Tarsem Lal R/O Village Choudhariwala Tehsil Khour Distt. Akhnoor and Ashwani Kumar S/O Mela Ram R/O Village Kachrial Tehsil Khour Distt and also granted three day police remand to Yatin Yadav S/O Des Raj R/O 753 Sector 3, Rewari and Anil Kumar S/O Om Parkash R/O Village Lahroda, PO Dharsoon, Tehsil Narnaul, Distt. Mahendergarh, Haryana in the SI paper leak scam.
The CJM observed that accused Rakesh Kumar , Kewal Krishan and Ashwani Kumar were arrested on 23.09.2022. Police remand of six days in respect of the accused was granted vide order dated 24.09.2022 till date.
Offence under section 420 of IPC is non-bailable in nature. Investigation is at its initial stage and further custodial interrogation therefore is warranted on facts.
Accordingly, the accused are further remanded to police custody for a period of seven days from today till 5/10/2022.
On expiry of aforesaid remanded period, accused be produced before a competent forum for further orders.
The CJM Jammu further observed that the accused namely Yatin Yadav and Anil Kumar were remanded to police custody on 20/09/2022 for a period of ten days till today.
According to the investigating officer, since the case in hand involves criminal conspiracy amongst accused operating across several states in India, in fact further police custody of accused for four days in connection with investigation is needed.
The court observed that having regard to the investigation carried out thus far and considering the stage of investigation, a case for grant of further police remand in respect of accused is made out by the investigating agency.
Accordingly, the accused are remanded to further police custody for a period of three days from today till 01/10/2022.
