Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 3: The Environment Unit of MIER College of Education, Jammu organized an E-Waste Management and Disposal drive recently. The main objective of the drive was to recycle and dispose e-waste materials at the institution for environmental conservation and protection and safety of staff, students, institutional operations and other stakeholders. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director MIER, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER, HoD PG and UG departments, Dr. Mool Raj and Dr. Rohnika Sharma along with students from different departments of the college participated in the event. Suraj Kapoor, Assistant Manager, Karo- Sambhav Private Limited, Jammu was invited for for the E-waste disposal of electronic products that were identified as non-functional and not useful like computers, CPU, keyboards and printer machines, etc. Kapoor also oriented the audience about the e-waste management and its harmful effects to the environment. He further explained the meaning of e-waste, the different kinds of e-waste, and how the waste is being handled where he also mentioned that most of the waste is recycled illegally in India by scrap dealers and other unauthorized parties. He also presented the importance of E-waste management and the 4R's of E-waste management which are Rethink, Repair, Reuse, and Recycle.
