Amandeep Hospital Celebrates 2000 Successful Robotic Knee Replacements
10/16/2022 10:55:46 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 16: In a consequential event, Amandeep Hospital commemorated a monumental milestone as Dr. Avtar Singh (Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon) successfully performed 2000 robotic knee replacements. Interestingly, he is the world's first Punjabi Surgeon to perform robot-assisted knee replacement surgery.
On Sunday, the hospital hosted a celebration at Holiday Inn Hotel, Amritsar, to mark this huge accomplishment.
Dr. Avtar Singh has performed over 25,000 joint replacement surgeries during the last 30 years. On top of that, he has treated countless patients with more than 1.25 lakh orthopaedic surgeries to date.
Certainly, performing 2000 robot-assisted surgeries is another feather in the cap for Dr. Singh. The event was graced by Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar (Cabinet Minister of Local Govt., Parliamentary Affairs, Punjab) as the Chief Guest. Moreover, Dr. Ajay Gupta (MLA, Amritsar Central) and Hockey Legend Brigadier Harcharan Singh arrived as Guests of Honour.
Speaking with the guests, Dr. Avtar Singh said, “This achievement is not just about numbers, but the lives we have changed and the pain we have alleviated with our technology.”
He added, “Next-generation robotics technology is an innovative tool that allows us to improve patient outcomes and reduce complications significantly. The recovery time is also faster as compared to traditional treatment methods.”
It’s worth noting that Amandeep Hospital is one of the region's largest healthcare centres for orthopaedic surgery. It is a leading chain of multispecialty hospitals for joint replacement surgery in India. Dr. Avtar Singh has been instrumental in creating this legacy.
