General conference of NZIEA held
10/16/2022 10:57:32 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 16: 14th General Conference of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association, Srinagar Division is going on since 15.10.2022 at Press Club, Jammu. The conference is being guided by comrade Anil Bhatnagar, Vice President, All India Insurance Employee’s Association and Comrade V.P. Arora, Vice President Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association. The Proceedings of the Conference is being conducted by Comrade Pawan Gupta Divisional Secretary NZIEA, Srinagar Division. This conference is taking place at a very Crucial Juncture when the central Government led by BJP is hell bent to snatch the rights of the workers achieved through long and fierce struggles of the working class of the country in the name of labour code bills. The Central Trade Unions and other independent federations are stiffly opposing this move of the Government.
The Public Sector insurance is also under attack by present ruling dispensation. The public sector insurance is being dismantled in pursuant upon the neo-liberal policies of the government. The public sector Insurance LIC & GIC are not only fulfilling the objectives of nationalisation of life and general insurance but also their contribution in nation building is matchless in the country.
LIC established on 01.09.1956 with a capital of 5 crore is now a Corporation with an assets of Rs. 42 Lac crore. LIC is contributing to the nation building by investing Rs. 41 Lac Crore in the social and infrastructure sector. The best performance is reflected in recently released “Fortune 500” list of best companies in the world. In the aforesaid list LIC has been placed at 98th position. The insurance penetration is 4.2% which is equal to the global average. Despite this brilliant performance of LIC, the Govt. Of India has divested 3.5% of its capital. This retrograde step of the government will harm the national interest in the long run. The various proposals being put forth by IRDAI regarding agency force and other measures will further damage public sector insurance, thus jeopardising the welfare of the people in the country.
This conference vehemently opposes the move of the government to divest the LIC capital and also to the various proposals such as the reduction in commission to agents, Portability of agency force and dematerialising policy bond as it will be injurious to the growth of public sector insurance.
This conference also decides that the agenda of the present government to divide the country on the lines of religion, caste and creed injurious to the unity and integrity of the country will be fought tooth and nail by insurance employees along with working class and the people of this country.
This conference appeals to the working class of the country to be united in fighting the various anti people policies of the government such as outright sale of public sector, disinvestment of public sector insurance LIC & GIC, labour code bills and the issues adversely affecting the lives of the people such as unemployment, inflation, hunger malnutrition and inequality etc.
This conference resolves to be a part of united struggle of working class and the people of the country to defeat the nefarious designs of the government to rob the people to pay the rich.
