Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 18: The Controller of Fertilizers for J&K and Ladakh UTs/ Director of Agriculture Production & Farmers' Welfare, Jammu, K.K. Sharma convened a meeting of Fertilizer Companies today at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu in view of ensuing Rabi Season in J&K UT and prepositioning of fertilizers for application in Rabi crops as well as orchards in Kashmir Valley The various issues related to smooth supply of fertilizer during the Rabi 2022-23 in both divisions of the UT were discussed thread bare in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion Director Agriculture said that the main objective of the meeting is to ensure the smooth and timely supply of fertilizer to the farmers of both divisions of the union Territory as monthly plan approved by Department of Fertilizer (GOI). The Director AP&FW, Jammu further exhorted upon the fertilizer supplying companies and officers of the Agriculture for liquidation of all pending stocks held in PoS machines and stressed on use of RO module/PoS machine on real-time bases to facilitate cashless sale of fertilizers to the farmers.
Taking note some irregularities, Controller Fertilizers instructed the enforcement agency of the department to be vigilant against black marketing and hoarding of fertilizer by some dealers. He also directed them to ensure the quality of PROM (phosphate-rich organic manure) and other organic manures through random sampling and testing. He also exhorted upon the fertilizer companies to maintain sufficient stock of Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and NPK fertilizer as substitute of DAP. As Fertilizer is the main input for agricultural and horticultural crops, so any lacuna from any quarters is unacceptable in timely stocking/supply of the fertilizer in the UT, he said.He informed that opening of Model Fertilizer Retail Shop initially in every district will provide the farmers easy access to fertilizer, seed, pesticides & machinery under one roof.
