Deewar II: Lone brothers to fight it out again!
10/26/2022 10:59:41 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 26: Even as former separatist leader, Bilal Gani Lone is set to join mainstream politics, he may contest against his own brother Sajad Gani Lone in the much-awaited Assembly elections.
Sources said the Bilal Lone is unlikely to join his parental Peoples Conference led by his brother but may contest against Sajad Lone as two have not been enjoying good relations for quite a while. Political observers said it could be “Deewar II” moment for the brother duo as they have previously remained in news for dialogue from Amitabh Bachan starrer Deewar.
It was reliably learnt that at least three parties are in touch with Bilal Lone and want to support him against Sajad Lone from their native Handwara.
Sources said for the last few months Bilal had been working on the ground to see support for him in the constituency and that now he’s confident to give a fight to his brother.
It’s for the second time in the last two odd decades th
Follow-Up
t the Lone brothers are set to fight it out in public.
The last time after the killing of their father and Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Bhat, the brother duo had been at loggerheads with each other.
In 2004, the younger brother had almost asked: "Mere paas daulat hai, shohrat hai, Hurriyat hai. Tumhare paas kya hai?" And the elder had replied: "Mere paas maa hai!”
A slight variation of Salim-Javed''s screenplay of Deewaar had played out at the Lone family that time.
That time Bilal had the party, the Peoples Conference, and the conglomerate, Hurriyat Conference, on his side.
Sajjad stood expelled from the Hurriyat but had the support of Lone''s widow, Begum Abdul Gani Lone, and therefore can lay claim on the legacy of Lone.
That is why Bilal's hold over the party had not deterred Sajad from planning to join mainstream politics and fight the coming Lok Sabha with the support of Peoples' Conference cadre that time. But now there’s a twist in the story.
