Jammu, Nov 4: The Army foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. Brig Rajesh Bisht, Commander, Poonch Brigade, flanked by Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rajouri-Poonch) Dr Haseeb Mughal told the media in Rajouri that on Thursday troops observed suspicious movement of three infiltrators in Pathani suit in Nakarkot area of Poonch sector. “When the infiltrators were challenged, they opened heavy volume of fire,” he said, adding that in the ensuing firefight all the three terrorists were injured. “Once the firing ceased, own troops started a search operation. It was a daunting task as the area is thickly mined, has dense undergrowth and the ground is undulating,” he said. The body of one of the dead terrorists with his weapon was recovered, said the officer. Towards the LoC, another weapon and numerous other war like stores were recovered. A blood trail was also observed, leading towards the LoC. During search operations, two AK-74 Rifles along with four magazines and 43 rounds, a Chinese pistol with seven rounds and magazine, a claymore mine along with cable and battery, a SMG Magazine, a bag and a small packet of contraband material were seized. With this, the security forces have eliminated a major infiltration bid in Poonch sector, said the officer. |
