ESIC provides benefits to organized sector employees
11/4/2022 11:10:22 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 4: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is an autonomous body under the aegis of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. The main objective of the organization is to provide certain benefits to organized sector employees in case of sickness, maternity and ‘employment injury’ and to make provision for certain social benefits etc.
The promulgation of Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948(ESI Act), by the Parliament was the first major legislation on social Security for workers in independent India. It was a time when the industry was still in a nascent stage and the country was heavily dependent on an assortment of imported goods from the developed or fast developing countries.
The deployment of manpower in manufacturing processes was limited to a few select industries such as jute, textile, chemicals etc.
The legislation on creation and development of a fool proof multi-dimensional Social Security system, when the country’s economy was in a very fledgling state was obviously a remarkable gesture towards the socio economic amelioration of a workface though limited in number and geographic distribution. India, notwithstanding, thus, took the lead in providing organized social protection to the working class through statutory provisions.
To raise awareness about the medical care services available and being provided by the ESIC Model Hospital Bari Brahmana, Jammu; a press conference was held by the Medical Superintendent Dr. Tilak Raj gave a detailed presentation about the services and functioning of ESIC Model Hospital Bari Brahmana, Jammu.

Dr Tilak Raj further added that theindoor patients are being provided with cost free medical services and good quality food prepared in the hospital by the kitchen staff. The super specialty and secondary care medical services which are not available in the hospital are provided to the insured persons/ beneficiaries and their dependent family members through Tie-up-Hospitals like SMVD Narayana SST hospital Katra, Ascoms & Hospital, Bee Enn General Hospital, Triveni Nursing Home, Sachdeva Netrayala, Shree Aum SST hospital etc. The hospital has also been accorded approval for up gradation from 50 to 100 bedded by the ESIC Hqrs’ office New Delhi to provide quality medical service to the I.Ps/ beneficiaries.
To provide better and best of the medical services to the insured persons/ beneficiaries, the hospital is working tirelessly for upgrading infrastructure and have recently procured and installed equipments like Fully Automated Hematology Analyzer in Pathology, Electronic Delivery Table in Gynecology, A- Scan in Ophthalmology, Cervical cum Lumber Traction unit in Physiotherapy department, Latest and upgraded version of dental chair for Dental department.
