Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 7: Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER organised an inter school contemporary group dance competition under the banner of Jammu Sahodhya School Complex. Top 22 CBSE schools of Jammu participated in the event. The theme of the dance competition was from "Darkness to Light." The occasion was graced by Dr kunal Anand, Vice-President Jammu Sahodhya and Principal DPS Udhampur as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries present were Rupa Gupta, Jt. Director MIER, Dr Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Principal, J.k Dhiman, Vice-Principal, faculty members, students and teachers from various schools of CBSE. The programme commenced with lighting of lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana by the choir of Model Academy. A state of excitement, awe and joy filled the auditorium as the talented and enthused dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and created a powerful rapport with the audience through their rhythmic movements, facial expressions, eye contact and dazzling smiles. Speaking on the occasion Dr Kunal Anand congratulated the participants for their spectacular performances. He further added that through competitions students gain better understanding of how to deal with conflicting opinions and ideas. Dr Srivastava in his address lauded the efforts of schools and reiterated that participation is equally rewarding as winning the prize. It is like a stepping stone to achieve greater things in life. The programme was judged by a panel of eminent choreographers of Jammu, Poonam Handa, Raj Sabhgotra and Tarun Sayal. First place was bagged by Model Academy, second place went to Doon International School and the third place was bagged by APS Akhnoor. Consolation prizes were bagged by JK Public school Kunjwani, DPS Udhampur and Jammu Sanskriti school. The welcome speech was presented by Khyrul Nissa, Head Girl of the school and vote of thanks was proposed by Saksham Khajuria, Head Boy. The event was anchored by Mrigank Salathia and coordinated by Manju Vali, Mohini Thappa and the cultural department. |
