POWERGRID organizes Cultural fest, exhibition

Jammu, Nov 20: Emerging artists from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir, H.P, Punjab & Haryana states, in colorful dresses and colourful presentation marked the Intra –Regionalcultural festival. The cultural festival & traditional Handicrafts Exhibition was organized by Northern Region Transmission System-II of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. at Police Auditoriumin the city of temples Jammu.
Kailash Rathore, Executive Director, Northern Region Transmission System- II was the Chief Guest on the occasion wherein Shri Rajesh Kumar,Executive Director (CMG) Corporate Centre was also present. Shri Rathore inaugurated the Handicrafts &Cultural Meet in presence of large number of guests, POWERGRID employees & theirfamilies.
The cultural festival encompassing talent from various States & UTs of NorthernRegion-II swayed the audience to the beats of colorful folk dances plays and songs highlighting rich composite culture of the Region. It was a major event for the employees and their family members as amateur talent of the Region gathered to highlight their cultural traditions.
In the programme, items drawn from different areas of the Region successfully managed to depict their cultural items namely Nir Nirupnby Abdullapursubstation, SunhreyKhawabby Kartarpur substation, HamariekBeshkimtiDhroharby the artists of Fatehabad substation, Galtiby Malerkotla substation,Katputli by the artists of Moga substation,Prtibimbbythe artists of Hamirpursubstationand Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav balley dance presented by the troupe of Regional Office Jammu. The audience was held spell bound by artists, each of whom performed like a thorough professional.
Besides, a traditional Handicrafts Exhibition comprising Crafts, Arts, & Fine Arts, were displayed which had been made by the employees of POWERGRID and their families. Welcome address delivered by Shri Abhay Kumar, CGM(AM) and Shri Vinod P Baxla, General Manager (HR), NRTS-II presented vote of thanks. At the end of function winners as well as participants of Cultural function were presented trophies & mementos by the Chief Guest. Team from Moga was declared the winner whereas teams from RHQ Jammu, Abdullapur and Fatehabad were given second, third and consolation prizes respectively.In the Handicrafts Exhibition the participants whose items were selected as the first, second & third were also given away prizes by Shri Kailash Rathore and other distinguished guests.
