New Delhi for high level probe into Jammu explosive recoveries
11/20/2022 11:11:25 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 20: Even as two major terror plots were recently foiled by the Jammu and Kashmir Police by the timely recovery of explosives in the City of Temples here, the New Delhi has sought a high level probe into the twin cases.
In less than a month, the police and other security forces recovered explosives from two places here in separate incidents, while the central government has sought a special investigation team to look into the matter amid apprehensions that “sleeper cells of terror groups could be trying to get active in and around the winter capital.”
Official sources said the central government has told the Jammu and Kashmir administration to constitute a SIT comprising of officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with the Indian Army and the paramilitary police forces to look into the matter on fast track and to file a detailed report.
On October 27, averting a major tragedy and a plan by terrorists to set off an explosion, police recovered suspected explosive substance in an unattended bag near a Taxi Stand at Jammu Railway Station. And, on November 15, two improvised explosive devices were found near a police post and destroyed in a controlled explosion on the outskirts of Jammu.
The weight of each device was 500 grams and they were kept inside a black coloured backpack near their Phallian Mandal post in the Satwari area. A patrol team had found the backpack following which the area was cordoned off and a bomb disposal squad called to neutralize the IEDs with timers.
In the previous incident 18 detonators, explosive material and some wires were recovered from the spot.
Sources said while the central government has hailed the timely action of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the police has been asked to crack the case at an earliest.
