Pak trying to smuggle pistols instead of AK rifles into Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 25: After the recovery of 12 Chinese pistols along with other arms near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri area of Kashmir, forces said that Pakistan is pushing small arms on this side of the border to intensify selective killings. Reports said that forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir have recovered more pistols than AK-47s in recent times. Sources said that the terrorist organizations are facing a shortage of weapons, which forced them to use pistols instead of assault rifles. Reports said that terrorists who hold senior posts in terror outfits are getting AK-47s but young recruits are mainly given pistols. The use of pistols is frequent due to the shortage of assault guns. In the recent selective killings of unarmed cops and citizens, terrorists used pistols and attacked victims from point-blank range. As reported earlier, the war-like stores seized included eight AKS 74 rifles with 24 magazines, 560 live rifle rounds, 12 Chinese pistols with 24 magazines, 224 live pistols rounds, 14 Pakistan and Chinese grenades along with 81 balloons with Pakistan flag were recovered from the Uri area on Saturday. Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s 19 Infantry Division Major General Ajay Chandpuria said that there is huge desperation on the Pakistani side to either infiltrate terrorists or smuggle war-like stores into Kashmir as the number of ultras and arms and ammunition was at an all-time low in the Valley. He said such manoeuvres were seen when the situation was near normal in Kashmir. “The situation is near normal in Kashmir valley as the number of terrorists and the availability of war-like stores is at an all-time low. So, there is a huge desperation from the other side to either infiltrate terrorists or smuggle war-like stores,” he said. |
