Pak pushing small arms
12/26/2022 10:56:56 PM

Recovery of 12 Chinese pistols along with other arms near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Uri area is an indication that Pakistan is pushing small arms to intensify selective killings in Jammu and Kashmir. In recent times security forces have recovered more pistols than AK-47 rifles.
After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcate it into two Union Territories—noose has been tightened around the terrorists and their supporters. Hideouts have been busted and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered during different raids.
At present terrorists are facing shortage of weapons and their capacity to strike has declined. They are aware that if they attack the security forces they would end up losing their lives. During the past three years, terrorists have been choosing soft targets to make their presence felt.
In the recent selective killings of unarmed policemen and citizens, terrorists used pistols and attacked victims from point-blank range.
Security forces have intensified the crackdown against the overground workers of terrorists and their aides and have choked their supply lines. The ones who used to provide logistic support to ultras have been tamed. The busting of hideouts and choking Hawala channels have made things difficult for the terror operators.
The small arms being pushed from the other side of the Line of Control is a part of the strategy to keep the proxy war alive. It seems that instructions to terrorists are clear: they have to choose soft targets and spill their blood to create fear among the people.
During the past one year, security forces have recovered many pistols. Had these small arms not been recovered the terrorists would have carried out many more selective killings.
The government and the security agencies are working hard to wipe out terrorism completely from Jammu and Kashmir as the ones who can use these pistols are being tracked and nailed. Terrorists who surrender are being given a chance to reform themselves and the ones who don’t surrender end up losing their lives.
Recovery of pistols is not a good sign but the security forces are ensuring that the ultras don’t succeed in their designs and they are taken care of before they carry out any strike.
