SMC councilor blows lid of Rs 29.5 cr ghotala | Danish Bhat seeks LG Sinha’s intervention | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 27: Amid mounting complaints of alleged corruption at the Srinagar Municipal Corporation here, one of the prominent SMC councilors and known whistleblowers against corruption, Danish Bhat has opened lid on a whopping Rs 29.5 crore scam at the civic body. Danish, who also heads the Srinagar Corporators Front (SCF) took to the social media and subsequently spoke to the media to expose the multi crore scam in development activity at a landfill site seeking the personal intervention of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. “Not paying much heed to the queries of CE R&B, SMC approached CE UEED with same DPR for technical sanction. After being pressurised by high political offices in SMC he gave the requisite TS with clear note that the DPR is hereby technically sanctioned, as FAIT ACCOMPLI,” said Danish in his social media post to the Raj Bhawan and other top brass. “Technical vetting of the project was done after issuance of NIT when actually issuance of formal NIT should have been done after proper rate analysls & market survey conducted in light of standing rules & procedures as mentioned in Condition No. 10 of the order,” he added. “Moreover bid validity period is only 120 days and even after 3 years from the date of bid, the tender still stands for obvious reason of crores of rupees paid in bribe to keep this NIT intact. Authorities at SMC for pity vested interests are in hurry to allot this tender,” he added. Making a fervent appeal to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, Danish said: “I request HLG Manoj Sinha Ji to immediately put this work to fresh tender after proper technical sanction and at the same time a probe should be ordered into this multi-crore scam.” Danish, who is known for waging war against corruption, has already filed complaint of another multi-crore scam at SMC with the J&K Anti Corruption Bureau. Despite repeated attempts the SMC officials didn’t respond to queries. One official who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the civic body was “likely to issue a clarification in this regard in the coming days.” |
