Terror truck wreckage gives shockers | Sidhra Encounter | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 30: While four terrorists were killed in a quick encounter in Sidhra area of Jammu on December 28 morning, the terror laden truck that was destroyed in the encounter is throwing up several shockers for the security grid and intelligence agencies. Sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs that the truck that was ferrying the terrorists along with arms and ammunition had brought the group of terrorists, who are believed into have infiltrated into Indian soil from the Jammu frontiers, a few hours before the dreaded travel to the valley. Sources said video footage of vehicular traffic venturing into Jammu district from adjoining districts like Rajauri, and even Lakhanpur was being screened by a team of police officials probing the case. “A team is also looking into the footage of the vehicles that drove down the Sidhra highway on the fateful day,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. While the driver of the truck, who had fled, is missing since the incident took place, official said the truck was specifically-designed to ferry terrorists. The sources said the truck was bearing a fake number plate and that the engine and chassis number of the heavy vehicle had been tampered to destroy the possible evidence. “The destruction of the metallic details inscribed on the truck engine, to meet terror motives is a clear cut message that the vehicle was being used for terror motives and now what needs to be seen is that how many times and where this vehicle had been in touch with the terror network,” said the official privy to the investigations. Four heavily-armed unidentified militants, travelling in a truck to Kashmir after infiltrating from Pakistan, were killed in an ongoing operation with security forces in Jammu’s Sidhra area early Wednesday morning. “Four terrorists have been killed in the encounter in Sidhra area in Jammu. Seven AK-47 rifles, one M4 rifle, three pistols along with other ammunition were recovered,” additional director general of police (ADGP), Jammu, Mukesh Singh had said. |
